Being an island nation, Sri Lanka claims for 1,585km of a coastal belt. As such, the Navy at all times pays its attention to the cleanliness of this coastal area and often conducts beach cleaning programmes in collaboration with costal community and fisher-folk. Besides, the Navy also conducts awareness programmes for the general public on the importance of clean and tidy beaches, from time to time.
