Coral replanting project

Coral reefs can be introduced as an essential element to balance the bio diversity in the ocean and they would be decayed due to natural causes or harmful human activities. Considering this situation, SL Navy has commenced Coral Replanting Project. Accordingly, a part of this project was initiated in the seas off Rumassala in Galle in Southern Province, with the participation of students from Moratuwa university and funds provided by “Incee” cement company by the Diving and Rescue unit of SL Navy, on 2nd November 2018. Further, similar projects are conducted at Coral Cove beach area in Trincomalee and other beach areas which the coral reefs are under threat.
